WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HIRE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER?

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HIRE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER?
Marj Silva, interior designer, and The Home stylist.

The Pros
Having someone else spend the time to source long lasting items that suit both your home and lifestyle. Interior designers are in the loop with most products on the market and it becomes a much faster and smoother process to find and buy what you like. At the end of the day you’re left with a beautifully unique home interior that incorporates smart storage and styling ideas you never would have thought of yourself.
The Process
An interior designer will chat to you about your wants, needs and dreams. We do an onsite inspection and lifestyle assessment, and come back to you with a general direction and plan to ensure we’ve interpreted your style correctly. Once you give us the OK, we start the planning and sourcing process for the space.
We then come back to you with a specific look and items we think best, and once this is signed off, we price and schedule all the items you wish to buy, order what’s required, and start engaging any trades needed such as joiners, painters, flooring specialists, and more. Once trades and orders are complete, we come in for the final install and style day, and when you return from work that day, you have a brand new home!

What’s the Cost?
Expect to pay anywhere between 10-15% of total costs of your project. So if your budget is $30,000 it would be somewhere around $3,000 – $4,500 depending on project scope.
When Utilising My Service, Clients are Most Surprised with …
How much the completed space is really them. A lot of clients are shy about using an interior designer because they’re afraid their home will end up being styled with someone else’s taste when it’s actually the complete opposite. We ensure what the client’s loves are incorporated, and they at the end of the day sign off each and every item chosen or custom built.
The Best Advice for those Considering Hiring an Interior Designer
Have a look at past projects of interior designers you’re considering, and ensure you all get along before committing to the project. Also, do your homework about what you want and like. Try to collect pictures of things you like such as images of interiors, favourite items, postcards of places you like, this will give the designer a great insight about who you are and ensure a speedier delivery of the project.
